Testimonials

Removed several trees, including a large Pine tree.  Ground the stump of one of the medium trees.

Kevin personally showed up and talked me through the service I wanted.  He was very knowledgeable about the types of trees and what was happening with them.  His team provided a great service, was punctual and worked quickly.  I highly recommend.

Andrew Daniels,

Removed a large ceder tree and ground the stump and roots that had cracked my driveway and walkway on side of house.

Kevin, the owner, was great.  He was able to come out on a Saturday to look at the tree and provide me with his professional opinion of what services I needed. He also gave me guidance as to how to obtain a tree removal permit and gave his opinion regarding replacement trees, which was extremely helpful in my getting this project started.  Once I had the concrete provider in place, I was able to schedule the day for the tree removal.  This tree was surrounded by power lines and near the gas line.
Kevin and his team were punctual and I was fascinated in how efficiently and neatly they were able to remove the tree.  They took great care with the power lines. Throughout this process, Kevin was available to answer my questions.  I highly recommend Kevin and his company and would not hesitate to hire him for any future tree-related needs.

Johnson's removed a HUGE pine tree from our backyard.  The tree was over 100ft tall and had six major trunks.  The tree was diseased with bark beetle and had to be removed by hand since it was inaccessible to a crane.  When they cut it down, we found that it was originally 6 trees that had been planted too close to each other, and merged into a single massive tree.  It took a five man crew 6 days to remove this tree.

Henry Vargas was prompt in estimating the service.  He promptly provided a written quote, all insurance and disability information and kept in touch until our scheduled date.  During the project, he and Kevin were there several times a day to make sure everything went well, and kept in touch with us at all times.  We are so impressed with the work that the tree climbing / cutting crew did.  This tree is unimaginably massive- hung over neighbors yards and structures- and they removed it without any damage.  They worked so very hard.  Thank goodness this company came to our rescue.  At they end of the project they cleaned up and made sure we were satisfied. Of course a few small garden plants at the base of the tree were damaged in the process - that is reasonable considering what they had to to - but what these guys accomplished was truly remarkable!  Trust them with your project.

Johnson's just cut down 2 huge Monterey Pines at my house in the Oakland Hills. They also trimmed 2 large, broken limbs, high up in another another Monterey Pine. The trees were positioned next to power lines and traffic, so they had to be extremely careful. Everything was done perfectly: no damage to surrounding trees, people, wires or cars. And, they removed all of the debris.

This is the 2nd time we've used Johnson's.  Yes, they were a bit more expensive than the other 2 bids we got....but guess what?  Unlike the competition, they had worker's comp for their employees, AND the right license (the other 2 companies had contractors licenses, but are supposed to have landscape licenses). If the company doesn't have the right license and insurance, the homeowner could be held liable in case of an accident. And when you're talking about taking down a 70ft tree, the risks are real. So, yeah, this legal stuff really matters to me (it also matters to me that an employee gets medical coverage should they be injured on  the job).

Their communication is great, much better than what you usually get with contractors. They make good use of email, with professional-looking estimates and electronic appointment scheduling.... but also know when to use the phone. The job had to be rescheduled because the first time the crew showed up one of the guys got stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction. But Kevin and Henry kept me informed and juggled things around to get a crew back here.
